The opening ceremony of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Day and Regional Economic Cooperation Forum was held in Urumqi on Thursday.

Nuer Baikeli, deputy secretary of CPC Xinjiang Committee, chairman of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region addressed the ceremony. He said that the central government has decided to set up special economic zones in Kashgar and Horgas, and upgrade the Urumqi Trade Fair to China-Eurasian Economic Relations and Trade Fair. These have created great opportunities for Xinjiang to participate in the economic cooperation of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Xinjiang China is willing to further the cooperation with these countries.

Vice minister of Commerce Jiang Yaoping expressed that, the ministry will give full play to XJ's advantage, and try to build it into a hub for exchange and cooperation among China and other countries under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Muratbek Imanaliev, secretary general of Shanghai Cooperation Organization remarked that, Urumqi Trade Fair has become an international economic and trade gala in west China. XJ China will play an active and functional role in pushing forward the cooperation of all places.
