Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Nay Pyi Taw Tuesday afternoon for his first official visit to Myanmar, official sources from the capital said.
Shortly after his arrival, Zardari will meet his Myanmar counterpart U Thein Sein. The two leaders will discuss promotion of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, diplomatic sources said, adding that the two sides will also seek ways to promote cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
During the two-day visit, Zardari will also meet Aung San Suu Kyi, the top leader of the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD), in Yangon on Wednesday, according to the sources.
According to Myanmar official statistics, Myanmar's export to Pakistan stood at 19.4 million U.S. dollars in the fiscal year 2010-11. |
