Toutunhe speeds up e-commerce trade

The Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (Toutunhe District) reached a total export-import trade of $620 million in the first half of this year, local media reported on Aug 22.

The half year's foreign trade marks a year-on-year increase of 11.2 percent in the zone, according to Zhang Ding, head of foreign trade office of the zone's commerce bureau.

The zone's Zhijing E-commerce Innovation and Entrepreneur Center has become a cluster of cross-border e-commerce companies. At present, approximately 87 cross-border e-commerce companies are registered in the center.

Peng Haiyang, general manager of Forest Cat Cross-border E-commerce Platform in the zone, said, "We have already built overseas offline public service warehouses."

Peng added that online sale increase reliability among consumers and the offline service warehouses and border warehouses can provide more export channels for local cross-border e-commerce companies.

Liu Shaohua, head of development and promotion office of Urumqi International Land Port Zone, said that the Urumqi International Land Port Zone plans to build offices in eight European countries and regions as cargo and container storage stations, which will make the freight between Xinjiang region and European countries smoother.
