Government in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region have come up with the idea of building two cloud computing industrial parks by 2020 in the cites of Urumqi and Karamay. The planned parks are also intended to reach 3.2 million yuan ($510,000) of production value by then, according to its "Tianshan Mountain Cloud Computing" plan.
The Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region proposed the "Tianshan Mountain Cloud Computing" plan in 2011, as it predicts to spend 10 years turning Xinjiang into an information center along the Silk Road economic belt, giving it an important strategic foundation and providing information backup bases around the state.
So far, the main construction of Urumqi city's cloud computing industrial park, located in the Toutunhe district, has been completed.
Representatives of Xinjiang government said that it supports the information infrastructure projects and offer full encouragement of the state government.
The NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission) published a list of 80 infrastructure projects at the beginning of 2014, which allowed the social capital to participate in the projects; the information infrastructure project was one of them.
And in August last year, the State Council promulgated the China broadband strategy implementation plan, and said that the broadband infrastructure was one of country's public infrastructures.
Speaking on the matter, the NDRC said that the enterprises should play a key role in such infrastructure constructions.
The Xinjiang government expressed that its priority was to cooperate with state and private telecommunication companies through innovative reforms to the institution.
