A father and son cycling from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to the capital successfully arrived in Beijing on Sunday.
The pair took 24 days to pedal their way across China. The father, named Ding Yide, said he had promised his son that he would ride with him before the young man started his college life in Beijing Union University in September.
The pair spent 4,000 yuan on the journey.
Ding said the pair wanted to make the trip because it was more meaningful than simply traveling to Beijing by train, which costs only 1,000 yuan.
