Forestry Law of the People's Republic of China
Adopted at the Seventh Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National People's Congress on September 20, 1984 and amended in accordance with the Decision on the Revision of the Forest Law of the People's Republic of China of the Second Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress on April 29, 1998
Forestry plays an important role in slackening the climate change
Forests are the principal part of the terrestrial ecosystem and have multiple functions and benefits. Forests play a unique role in the response to the climate change and have great potential. Forests have been called the largest carbon pool and the most economic carbon absorber in the terrestrial ecosystem.
The main idea, objective and method of China 's forestry in coping with climate change
China's forestry should follow the requirements of scientific development concept, strictly carry out the relative tasks in China's National Climate Change Program, place a series of measures including increasing carbon fixation by forests in a proper position, fully bring out forest's great potential in carbon sequestration, and make an active contribution to mitigating and adapting climate change.
The Greening of China
In China’s northwestern province of Gansu, home to JiayuPass, is the west-ern reach of the Great Wall and aboundless desert. Not long ago, on either side of the 50-kilometer highway running from the Lanzhou airport to downtown were loess hills, covered with nothing more than dry yellow earth. Twenty-five years have passed, remarkable achievements have been realized and these have contributed to today’s expanding green landscape.
The endeavors made for Afforestation and Environmental Conservation
The windbreaker belt project in northeast, north and northwest China known as the "No.1 Ecological Project in the World" have entered its fourth construction phase with the trees planted totaling 26 million ha. Spreading out in 551 counties in 13 provinces in the three regions the project covers an area of 4.069 million square km, accounting for 42.4 percent of China's total land area.
PRC Leads World in Tree Planting
The People's Republic of China (PRC) may attract adverse publicity for its polluted cities and rivers, but it is leading the world in one environment fieldtree planting. Its citizens are playing a major role in this. The PRC government adopted forestation as a national policy after people cut trees to clear areas for agriculture. In the summer of 1981, several provinces in the western PRC.
Achievements made in afforestation
Achievements have been made in afforestation. Since the 1950s the Chinese government has organized large-scale tree planting activities and stepped up efforts for the fostering, protection and management of forest resources and consequently has made great progress in rational utilization of forest resources. Artificial afforestation covers 33.79 million hectares.
China's Large-Scale Afforestation Enables Forest Carbon Sinks Continue To Grow
The face of global forest resources and the declining trend, the Chinese Government, through the large-scale afforestation, strengthened the forest vegetation restoration, enhancement of forest ecosystem carbon storage and carbon sequestration, in recent years, forest carbon sink capacity showing a good momentum of sustained growth.
Ma Yongshun, the hero of our national forestry
Ma Yongshun, well-known national model worker, China’s first generation logger, is the hero of our national forestry. In 1948, he came to Tieli FDA of northeast forestry alone and worked as a common logger.
