The third China-Eurasia Forum opened in Urumqi, Eurasian urged common development
The third China-Eurasia Economic Development and Cooperation Forum that opened in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Monday, with the theme of "openness, mutual trust and common development." Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao made remarks at the opening ceremony of the forum, calling for promoting common development in the Eurasian region through greater openness and cooperation.
Chinese VP Li Yuanchao urges cooperation with Eurasia against terrorism
Chinese Vice-President Li Yuanchao said at the opening ceremony of the third China-Eurasia Expo in Urumqi that Cooperation is the only viable way to safeguard Eurasian countries' security in the face of transnational terrorist threats. He Said,"Given that terrorism, separatism and extremism are still quite rampant, there is a need for countries to combat them with continuing joint efforts."
Nations agreed to build New Silk Road
At the Third China-Eurasia Expo , China will enhance partnerships with its neighbors to the west, aiming to build an integrated regional communications network, along with infrastructure improvements, such as road and bridge construction along the Eurasian Land Bridge (also known as the New Silk Road).Kurexi Maihesuti, vice-chairman of Xinjiang said that, "It is time to boost this region as a backward communication system can create economic burdens such as unsold goods, lack of information and erroneous investment policies in the Eurasian heartland."
Silk Road to take on a new look
In a speech at Kazakhstan's Nazarbayev University, Xi proposed establishing a Silk Road Economic Belt, similar to the original, ancient Silk Road of more than 2,000 years ago, to boost cooperation between China and Eurasian countries. The regional cooperation structure, Xi said, can be set up through "strengthening policy communications, road connections, trade facilitation, currency circulation and people-to-people exchanges".
Contracts worth $35b sealed at China-Eurasia Expo
A total of 165 contracts for major projects were signed at the 2013 China-Eurasia Expo held in Urumqi. The contracts were worth 213 billion yuan ($35 billion), about 3 percent higher than the previous year. The agreements were sealed between 14 cities in Xinjiang, and State-owned and private enterprises throughout China.
Yuan to play a bigger role in Central Asia
As many countries in the Eurasian corridor seek effective measures to improve their economies, senior officials from Central Asia and Pakistan's central banks are urging China to establish a solid regional financial cooperative platform to prevent and lower the damage created by developed economies.Support will be given to Chinese financial institutions to provide loans denominated in yuan to partner countries in the region.
Speakable bilingual textbooks appears at the third China-Eurasia forum
In order to promote bilingual language learning, inherit and develop native languages and strengthen language study among various nationalities, the Language Affairs Commission of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region specially brought in MPR technology, developing MPR bilingual textbooks, facilitating the language learning among different nationalities in Xinjiang.
Xinjiang Beauty Project Shines at 3rd China-Eurasia Expo
Embroidery and other handicrafts under the Xinjiang Beauty Project are currently on display at the ongoing third China-Eurasia Expo being held in Urumqi. At the Xinjiang International Exhibition Center where the expo is being held, more than 1,000 handicrafts including jade accessories, woodcarving, embroidery and hand-knitted products collected from across the region are being showcased.
