The eighth special stage (SS8) of the Taklimakan Rally concluded on Thursday, featuring high-speed chases through the landscapes of Kepin Grand Canyon, Xinjiang.
Drivers crossed complex terrains and completed the 220-kilometer stage, showcasing skill and endurance. In the car category, Lu Binglong of the Duonai Shocks Team was the first to finish, followed by Fan Gaoxiang from Hebei Qian'an Jiujiang Auto and Motorcycle Sports Club.
"The high-speed sections of the stage demanded exceptional precision in tuning our car, suspension, and shocks," Lu commented. "The latter part of the stage was extremely bumpy with transverse ditches. This kind of terrain tests our willpower. I am satisfied with my performance today."
In the motorcycle category, Deng Liansong and Neels Theric of the Kove finished first and second for the second consecutive day, maintaining their lead over other riders.
"The latter part of the stage was quite dangerous, but I managed to reduce my speed by downshifting, ensuring a smooth finish," Deng noted.
The rally will proceed with the ninth special stage on Friday, spanning 200 kilometers. This stage is the last long segment of this year's rally and is expected to play a crucial role in determining the final standings of the racers.
