In a village of Toksun county, Turpan city in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, a development path centered around sand therapy and radiating multiple industries is becoming profitable.
Leveraging its sand therapy resources, the Oymanbrak Village Sunshine Sand Therapy Station project, with a total investment of 3 million yuan ($421,109.9), has emerged. Covering an area of approximately 1.73 hectares, the number of visitors has exceeded 600 per day since its official opening to the public.
The project not only provides professional sand therapy for visitors from all walks of life but also injects powerful momentum into the local rural economy. The prosperity of the sand therapy station has ignited the entrepreneurial enthusiasm of surrounding villagers.
Some villagers opened small shops selling daily necessities such as mineral water and local eggs needed by tourists; others have utilized their courtyards to operate characteristic canteens and agritainment, providing authentic and delicious dining services to visitors; and some villagers have set up diverse stalls selling handicrafts or local specialty snacks. Villagers' daily income has stabilized at around 500 yuan with significantly improved livelihood.
The revitalization and development of rural areas relies on sufficient and stable power support. Since 2021, State Grid Turpan Power Supply Company has invested a total of 1.57 million yuan in the transformation and upgrading of the rural power grid lines in Oymanbrak village. They have newly built or upgraded 0.88 kilometers of 10-kilovolt lines, and installed four transformers, with a total capacity of 1.2 megavolt-amperes. The quality and reliability of the power supply has been greatly improved. The improvements provided a strong driving force to the local sand therapy industry.
To ensure a worry-free electricity supply for the sand therapy station, State Grid Turpan Power Supply Company has provided customized power services after understanding the station's electricity needs and tailoring power supply solutions. Additionally, the company has developed a power manager service list and organized staff members to regularly visit the sand therapy station every month. They will conduct comprehensive and meticulous safety inspections of the station's electrical lines and equipment and promptly eliminate safety hazards. These measures not only enhanced the power reliability of the sand therapy station and its surrounding facilities but also increased visitors' satisfaction.
"All electrical equipment in the buildings are in good condition. If you have any electrical needs, you can contact our grid manager at any time," said a staff member from the State Grid Turpan Power Supply Company to a manager of the sand therapy facility on Tuesday.
In the next step, State Grid Turpan Power Supply Company will continue to uphold the principle of "providing electricity for the people" and increase the construction of the power grid, improve services, and contribute greater power to rural revitalization and development through high-quality services, more reliable power support and innovative models.
