Facilitated by visa-free policies and fast custom clearance, northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region became a popular travel destination for foreign tourists during the National Day holiday, with custom clearance personnel and traffic volume reaching record highs.
Data from the Xinjiang exit-entry border inspection station showed that as of Monday, local ports have witnessed a total of 48,000 people enter and exit, a year-on-year increase of 76.95 percent, and 17,400 inbound and outbound vehicles, up by 62 percent year-on-year.
Among them, the Urumqi International Land Port and Horgos Port saw an obvious increase of inbound and outbound passenger flow.
