A central Asia judo joint camp opened on Thursday in Changji, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with a focus on building the talent pool for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The camp brought together over 300 Chinese athletes from 13 teams across the country.

"The athletes are training together to improve their competitive level," said Yan Yu, leader of Chinese national team. "This program provides technical data support for future national team selections and enhances youth athlete development."

The camp also welcomed the Kyrgyzstan judo team, aiming to foster mutual learning between the teams.

Aktan Uranov, a 21-year-old judo champion from Kyrgyzstan, said the facilities and diverse training environment serve as a great opportunity.

"Training here with so many athletes and with such complete facilities is very beneficial to my progress," he said.
