A new air cargo route was launched on Sunday, linking Urumqi in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Zurich in Switzerland.
A cargo flight loaded with 49 tonnes of cross-border e-commerce goods took off from Urumqi on Sunday, marking the launch of the new air freight route. The service, operated by cargo airline My Freighter LLC, currently runs once a week.
"The launch of the new route will provide strong support for cross-border e-commerce enterprises," said Feng Liang, general manager of Xinjiang Wanshengtong Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd.
According to the Urumqi-based logistics company, the shipment mainly consisted of commodities such as clothing and LED lights.
With the launch of the new route, Urumqi Tianshan International Airport now operates 18 international air cargo routes, connecting 18 cities across 14 countries, including Britain, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Switzerland.
