Central Asian experts study renewables in Xinjiang

Since May 15, the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has hosted an international training program on renewable energy development, gathering 25 officials and experts from the five Central Asian nations of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Moldova.

During the two-week program, Wang Yong, director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Research Institute, gave lessons on new electricity and new energy systems.

With abundant solar and wind resources, Xinjiang has emerged as a strategic energy base, providing experience in building new electricity systems for Central Asian countries.

The training concludes on May 28.
