Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday called for concerted efforts to better build a beautiful Xinjiang in the process of Chinese modernization, during a meeting with representatives from all ethnic groups and sectors in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. President Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, arrived in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang, earlier in the day to attend events marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the autonomous region.
