Spring Festival brings a feast of flavors to Changji Hui autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, where traditional cuisine and a festive spirit welcome visitors from across the country.

At a snack street in Changji, fried cakes are a must-try. "Many people travel here just to try our fried cakes," said Ma Dianying, owner of a cake shop, who takes pride in preserving the authentic taste of this local specialty.

Nearby, an intangible cultural heritage food that includes nine dishes offers a more elaborate dining experience. Prepared through steaming, it features balanced meat and vegetable combinations, each with a distinct flavor.

Ma Xuecai, the inheritor of the recipe, keeps his restaurant open throughout Spring Festival. "Family bookings have surged," he said. Gift boxes of the dish are now available.

In the evening, the night market comes alive, serving roasted lamb, live dance performances, and a ceremony of cutting a whole roasted lamb.

"The atmosphere is incredible," said Yingzi, a visitor from Guangdong province. "I'll bring this taste memory back with me."

From street snacks to festive feasts and cultural performances, Changji welcomes all to savor a flavorful Chinese New Year.
